The following are general guidelines for those who volunteer as Time Keepers and/or Scorekeepers.

Referee Fees

TIME KEEPER

  1. Know the clock before you have to use it.

  2. Ask previous clock keeper or ref how to use.

  3. Set clock for 5:00 and let run before your game starts.

  4. Introduce your self to counter part.

  5. Clear all other info from clock.

  6. Once buzzer goes off set clock for 1st period, not quarter

  7. 3rd grade 5 min quarter     4th,5th,6th grade 6 min quarter , 7th, 8th grade 7min quarter;   3:30/3:30     2)  3:30/3:30     3)  7:00   4) 7:00
  8. Clock does not start until opposing team touches ball.

  9. Watch refs arm to start clock. Keep finger on switch.

  10. Only stop the clock when ref blows whistle.

  11. Keep track of who is visitor and home.

  12. Set clock for 5min. half time.

  13. When half is over set clock for 1 full quarter.

  14. 1 point for each free throw/ 2 points for each shot/

  15. Only 8th grade scores 3 points beyond the arc.
  16. Sign Score sheet when game is over.

Scorekeeper

  1. Be at your game 20 min. early.

  2. Find the score card and fill it out in pencil ASAP.

  3. Fill out all dates, times, names, kids numbers in order. Put down all the names of players. Technical foul if added after kid shows up.

  4. As soon as previous game is over take score sheet to the table.

  5. Home team has the right to choice score/ time.

  6. Introduce your self to your counter part.

  7. Work together to keep track of everything.

  8. Have counter part call out player’s numbers on line up to move game along. Only in the first half is this done.

  9. Tell the team and ref when kids have been checked in.

  10. First half is broke up in playing periods. (example)

  11. 1) 3:30/3:30     2)  3:30/3:30     3)  7:00   4) 7:00

  12. All kids must play at least 1 full quarter. 

  13. Keep track of the periods on the quarter count sheet.

  14. Run pencil through period when it's over.

  15. Every time the game stops, double check stats with timekeeper.

  16. Let ref know when 5th personal foul occurs, 6th team foul before 1-n-1, and 9th foul before double bonus.

  17. Let coach know when the player has four fouls.

  18. Add up all columns and sign name when game is over.

 

Referee Fees

Referees should be paid by each head coach prior to the game.  The fee structure for 2007/08 season is as follows:

3rd and 4th grade games = $15

bullet

5th grade games = $17

bullet

6th thru 8th grade games = $22
